Freunde in Indien

Unser Freund Dr. B.V.R. Rao - Direktor von Prison Fellowship Indien berichtet über das Schicksal eines Gefangenen in Indien (B.V.R. Rao ist promovierter Soziologe):

Transformation through PF India's
Vocational Training

March 09, 2009

The magistrate of the criminal court was in district jail at Vijayawada for a court sitting in the prison premises. ARUN, an accused of a theft to the tune of Indian Rupees 150,000 (US dollars 3000) has been waiting for the trial. According to the Indian Penal Code, as there are evidences of his crime, the punishment for him would be a fine of 500 rupees and 3 years of imprisonment.

But during the trial, the magistrate understood that the undertrial inmate released his mistake and want to employ himself after release. To equip himself, he enrolled himself in the MOULDED PAPER PLATES UNIT. This is to overcome all his distractions because idleman's brain is devil's workshop. It is to learn a skill within 7 working days. It is also to earn some money inside the jail once he learnt the skill.

The magistrate left the court proceedings, entered the unit premises and asked our Coordinator Samson about ARUN. Samson showed the attendance register and also the other records pertaining to the inmate's performance and behaviour. He was satisfied of all he observed. He appreciated PF India's efforts and asked Samson to continue with more activities.

The magistrate fined only Rupees 100 (US dollars 2) and acquitted ARUN and asked him to continue with the trade after release and counseled him about crime free life!

Now, ARUN can pay the fine from his earnings through the newly acquired skill! Because his pursuit has brought him release, he can refocus his thoughts, plans, and aim in life.

As a part of our daily practice, Arun regularly attended morning prayer in the unit and was introduced to Jesus Christ the deliver from the prison of crime and sin.
